STRONG, CENTERED & BALANCED with JOAN HYMAN

Ground and center as you explore the many different aspects of yoga!

Get strong, centered, and balanced as you release tension from your body and mind and access the quieter layers inside. The first three vinyasa classes are designed to help you strengthen and ground yourself, preparing you for the quieting and stilling of the final two classes. Dive deep into your standing pose practice while opening your hips, twist from your center, and even getting up into handstand! Then relax, go inside and find your pauses as you explore pranayama and a restorative practice. By the end of the bundle you’ll feel rejuvenated as your system shifts into a deep state of healing.

Some prior yoga experience is encouraged so you can have the most fun and move into the flow state with the classes offered! If you are athletic and like to move, the first three will suit you. if you need to calm down and like to chill, the second two are your best choices! Anyone who wants to explore the many different aspects of yoga can enjoy the wide range offered in these packages.

ABOUT JOAN:

Joan Hyman’s grounded teaching style creates space for students to deepen their personal journey while aligning with teachings of true yogic traditions. Her students emerge from their practice with the rich, bright energy that yoga has to offer. Joan’s teachings come from an organic and intuitive place, as she draws upon the joyful study of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga,Ayurveda (the science of life), and meditation. An authentic, modern day yogi, Joan also lives a yogic lifestyle. She embraces all of the eight limbs of yoga and Ayurveda – the science of life. Her love and devotion show up in her practice and throughout her teachings.

CLASS BREAKDOWN:

GETTING INTO OUR FEET AND BALANCING THE HIPS:

Join Joan for this full hour class intended to support you in becoming grounded and centered. You will explore balancing poses while opening the hips and building a steadiness in the body and mind. After a standing sequence that works the feet and muscles of the legs, practice will end with hip opening postures to release tension and quiet the mind. You will need a block, a strap, and a blanket. Be prepared to work up a sweat before releasing into a sweet savasana.

DEEP TWISTS & CORE WORK:

This forty-five minute class is focused on twisting and accessing the core muscles that allow the twist to happen from the inside out. This creates a deep cleansing effect leaving an energizing effect on the body and mind. Class starts with supine twists and core work, building towards a standing sequence with backbends and deep seated twists. This practice will help release tension in the back, neck , and shoulders and leave a cleansing effect on the whole system.

WAKE UP & STAND ON YOUR HANDS:

This dynamic flow class is geared to waking up your center and preparing you for handstands that will help you feel awake all day long! This practice includes key postures that energize your system, and even if you can’t get all the way up into handstands you will learn the tools that will one day help you get up and stay up!

PRANAYAMA – THE MYSTERY OF THE BANDHAS:

Pranayama is a deeply healing practice, which can take years of practice to refine. The bandhas are a mystery to a lot of practitioners. They help to create a container which strengthen our vital energy during practice. In this class, you will explore even breathing and the pauses felt at the bottom of the exhales which help engage the pelvic floor muscles and demystify Mula Bandha. You will work between sitting up and lying down on props to help you access the use of your bandhas while working with breath retention to help refine your breath and re-shape your patterns.

RESTORATIVES & HIPS – UNWINDING:

This class is designed to help you wind down at the end of the day and release tension in your hips. A mixture of restorative yoga and yin poses will help the body soften and relax the mind. You will need props for this practice and if you don’t have access to them, get creative and gather up towels and blankets for support. Feel free to take an extra long savasana after this practice and allow yourself to drift into a deep nights sleep.
